Xone 42 xfx modification?

Thinking about ways to modify the xfx on the xone 42, to make it behave like a regular aux. No dry/wet, just gradually increase amount of signal sent to external effect, and layer that on top. If this potentiometer works like some kind of divider, just “routing” the signal either to master or external, could I perhaps just bypass it and let the track volume be unaffected? Just let the signal always be 100%, like a bridge over the potentiometer. But leave external/xfx side. That way it would work like a standard aux?
