    Dear all,

in our HoW we have been using our c3500 since 2018 and have never regretted the purchase, many thanks to A&H for the great product and the nice feature updates.
Since this is a fixed installation, we have a fixed setup that will not change in the foreseeable future. We don’t have and also don’t need dante or waves.
But for important or large events, a USB multi-track recording with at least 24 or 32 channels would be really helpful.
Yes, I know, this can only be achieved with Dante or waves. But I don’t understand why it’s available on smaller consoles like QU or SQ, but not with the flagship, dlive.
I’m not sure if this would be a hardware change also, but if it’s just software, it would be amazing to have this feature in a next update.

    Many thanks

    Il russo

It is a hardware feature, at least partly.

Okay, I was hoping that this would be somehow possible via the interface that is already installed for stereo recordings.

My experience with the interface that is already installed for stereo recordings is not good. Very picky about drives, and it tends to fail silently (time will simply be missing from the recording, presumably if the drive is too slow).

Dlive is 96Khz/24bit. 32 channel stream might be too much for a cheap random USB thumb drive. USB port is also probably not USB3 either?

    Good morning,

I think the hardware would have to be changed for this. However, a good solution would be to create a card for the I/O port. Behringer/Midas has something like this for the X/M 32. SD cards are then used for recording. The developers can also choose a different storage medium or use it to create a connection for a computer. Basically, I think there should be a recording card for the I/O slot. This can then also be offered for the Avantis.

Since this topic has been mentioned many times with the Avantis and many users were very disappointed about the lack of this function, it is certainly a good investment to create this card.

I wonder if A&H could just turn that USB port into a 32×32 (or maybe even 64×64) audio interface? Then you could use it for multitrack recording, plugins, or virtual sound check.

I can only speculate, but I think the hardware of the interface prevents this. The chip used is probably only suitable for two channels. It would of course be great if it were different. One of the biggest annoyances for me with the Avantis is not being able to make multi-channel recordings. Dante and Waves are very expensive if you only want to record.

From a technical point of view, it would not be a great challenge to design a recording card. That would be a good solution for D-Live and Avantis at the same time. It could then be offered at a reasonable price and would certainly find enough buyers. You would just have to think carefully beforehand about which storage medium and which interface is best suited for this.

    +1

If it’s not possible to realize it with the built in hardware a recording card in the Behringer price range would also be a solution for us.
The xlive board costs 300€, a a&h Dante card 64×64 costs about 2000€. For ~5 recordings per year this ist way too expensive for us…
