I can see this being a dumb question but I’m going to ask anyway – there’s no way to use a return in a digital snake as an input?

    Thanks, Jake

    Not in a DSnake.

Chap who sometimes does light at the same gigs as me was annoyed when I went over to digital, as he had to start running his own cable to FOH position! 😀

Thanks, I thought as much. I did up a great plan for replacing copper with digital snakes only to realise I was a few channels short as we have previously hijacked some of the returns.

Given the flexibility of the digital realm, some smart manufacturer will realise it’s possible to use unisex XLR connections in their stage boxes allowing any combination of sends/returns!!

    It’s called transmit and receive.

It would take just a little bit more than changing the connector from male to
    female in the stage box.

What board and stage box do you have?

    Sorry, I was meaning as a new product, not a retrofit. I.e. a DX24 (as opposed to a DX 16 8)

It was more intended as a joke. Target market would be about 30 customers..!

Actually a stage box where every connection could be configured
as either an input or an output would have a big market..I think.

The hardware to do that would be complex and expensive!

Yes, those who wanted it probably couldn’t afford.

Need more inputs? Add another stage box or run some some copper.
