I am struggling to come to terms with SQ MixPad and would like to get friendly with it instead of my normal generic program I use for consoles I likely won’t see too often, Mixing Station. I will be using the SQ6 and SQ 5 a lot and likely will be using the SQ MixPad app, so really want to get it right.
My biggest issue: I can’t seem to save custom Layers with shows and scenes. When I load up the scene on a new iPad or computer running SQ MixPad, it either has no custom layers, or just whatever was on the iPad last time it was used, regardless of the new show or scene I just loaded. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not a feature available to SQ MixPad?
I do see that there is a way, after loading a show, to copy(one by one??? ugh, hopefully i have that wrong) the layers on the board to the iPad….How do I send custom layers from the iPad to the console, so I can I guess save them with the show and painstakingly load them back to the iPad one by one?
How do I quickly get all the custom layers from one iPad to another?
Next Issue: I can’t seem to see Insert GUIs from the channel insert position, so instead have to go to the FX returns in order to see them. Is there a quick way when viewing the channel to get to the insert GUI? For example, the De-esser
Next one: When restoring from USB I’m getting a “some libs failed to restore “ error. I think this may be related to the Add-ons. So far I have the “Dynamic Trio”. Hopefully this error doesn’t lose me some settings. What can I do about it?
Next: How do I reorder custom layers? Like swapping layer A with layer C?
Next: the fine tune control isn’t always ideal for me in some windows, is there a way to directly enter values?

SQ-Mixpad treats custom layers as local to the app. I believe that the thinking is that you may well want it laid out differently from the physical mixer. You might not like that, but it’s the design philosophy that was adopted. As you mention, you can copy a custom layer from mixer to SQ-Mixpad, but not the other way round.
Just as with the desk, softkeys can’t be assigned to custom layers. There’s a layer that has the softkeys in, just like there are locations on the physical mixer where you find the softkeys.
Personally, while SQ-Mixpad is OK for on-line working, I’m not a fan of the off-line process, with all the pushing of showfiles. It doesn’t work for me. But, while disappointing, that’s OK. It’s an area where MG, with X32-Edit, really got it right for PC working.
In the end, if you hate SQ-Mixpad so much, why not use Mixing Station instead?
