Hello,
At church we have an SQ-6 and want to upgrade to in ear monitors. We just discovered either an AB or DX 168 (I forgot to write it down…oops) in a tech closet that’s not being used. My thought process is we can connect the 168 via ethernet and utilize the outputs for in ear monitors. However, what I haven’t been able to find is if the 8 outputs are limited to the 12 mix sends/aux channels on the SQ-6.
Right now we’re using two mix sends for on-stage monitors, 1 for a remote room, and 1 for a PC for streaming. Does that mean I’m limited to 8 sends going to the 168, or do either the AB168 or DX168 expand the number of mixes I have available?
This is probably a noob question, but like I said, I haven’t found my answer yet.
Thanks!

The outputs are on either one are fully configurable to be any output mix from the SQ mixer as are the inputs. It’s in the IO set up menu.

Have you thought about sending your PC stream mix via a Matrix to the remote room? That will free up another mix.2024/07/18 at 11:36 am #123972oldroscoeParticipant2024/07/18 at 1:30 pm #123978BrianParticipantYou can use the physical outputs for anything that you want. You can use them for aux outputs, main L/R outputs, matrix outputs, insert sends/returns, etc. But while adding an external stage box increases the amount of analog I/O available to use, it does not change/increase the buss capacity of the overall system.
It doesn’t sound like the current setup is using any stage boxes, but if you already have stage boxes connected to the SQ keep in mind that you cannot mix the older AR/AB 48k boxes with the newer DX 96k boxes on the same SLink connection (because of the difference in clock speeds between the different generation of boxes). If the boxes are running different clock speeds, the only way you can use both generation of boxes directly connected to the same console is to utilize a SLink I/O card installed in the console. You’ll connect one generation’s boxes to the built in SLink port and the other generation of boxes to the SLink I/O card port.
