Shopping for a console and like what I’ve seen of this desk. Is it possible to use the same mic pre for 2 different channels (understanding that both channels share control to that single mic pre or that one is designated the master)? It would be nice to have 16 mic pre-amps for FOH (channels 1-16) and mix monitors (channels 17-32) on this same desk.

Yes. No problem. One controls gain. The other uses trim control.

Obviously the preamp can only have one gain value, but all channels have their own trim controls as part of the channel strip processing.

Normal procedure would be to set the preamp gain at soundcheck and then both sets of channels would use their own trims from that point onwards. If either side touched the preamp gain it would affect the other.
