Subject pretty much sums it up.

I own a QU-16 and would like to use AES Out to a DSP/LMS with AES In.

I like Xilica for the money, and would like to mess with FIR.

For the Xilica XD-4080, the AES interface is described as follows:
“Transport 4×8 AES/EBU digital audio channels over a DB-25 connector
    (Yamaha protocol)”
    ref: https://xilica.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/XIL003_UserManual_XD.pdf

There are breakout cables that go from DB-25 to XLR.
QU-16 is AES3 with XLR style of pinout.

Can I connect to the Xilica from the QU without any intermediary devices?

I’ve read a bit about AES in general, but I do not understand the protocol much and am not certain if I am going in the right or wrong direction.

    Thanks for your insight!

Also, the QU would be the master clock right?

With my DBX DSP’s and using the AES input I set them to sync/clock to the primary
    AES input.
    The QU runs at 48k.

    Hi CfBird,

The Protocol AES/EBU is a standard.
The DB-25 Yamaha or Tascam is a pinout Standard.
So you need a XLR<>DB-25 connector with Yamaha Pinout if you want to make it work.

If you have made the connection you have to set the Xilica to sync the word clock from the incoming AES/EBU signal
