    Hi all,

Bit of and odd question but when using the Qu-SB is there any visual feedback ‘metering’ to show the ‘input signal’ levels in Qu-Control? – I understand 0dB on the fader is 0dB (+4dB) @ the outs but because this is essentially a digital product, how does one know if you’re going to clip before the AD? (does the -18dBu metering rule apply)

I’ve had a look through the manual and also through the forums but metering seems to be a bit vague in the Qu-SB realms.

I’m still relatively new to the Qu range and Qu-control operations and have come from conventional analogue so please excuse my stoopidity.

    Cheers 8)

Qu-Control, while being very useful for some things, is a pretty basic instrument.

Qu-Pad has access to everything and lots of meters!

Me bad – I did actually mean Qu-pad in my original post and not Qu-Control. (different apps available, I got confused – as I say, still very new to this)

My original question still stands though for when using Qu-Pad.

    Hi

    DBFS alignment : +18dBu = 0dBFS (+22dBu at XLR output)

Meter calibration: 0dB meter = -18dBFS (+4dBu at XLR out)

Meter peak indication: -3dBFS (+19dBu at XLR out)multi-point sensing

This might just as well be ancient Greek to me but it brings up an interesting question (for me that is): up to what levels do you guys run your input gains ?

I tend to run most inputs so they peak at -10 except the kick most of the time because otherwise I sometimes have to run the channelfader above 0 dB to get enough FOH volume for the kick. So input peaks for the kick are usually set at 0 dB.

    Sorry for the hijack…

how does one know if you’re going to clip before the AD?

If you have any doubt about your meters indications,
Check in the input source tab (source/gain/48v/polarity): the meter is always directly post preamp regardless of your pafl settings

    Fab,

What page in the guide/manual was your attachment from?

    Fab.

I’ll have another play tonight – still getting used to the interface so will check it out.

    Cheers. 8)
