Hi @soundave ,
The Peak Limiter 76 is (very closely) modeled on somewhat of an industry classic analogue unit.
This includes the sound and behavior of the original unit, as well as the controls.
Unlike many modern compressors and limiters, the numbers by the attack and release controls do not indicate time, they indicate speed, so you can think of a larger number as meaning ‘more speed’.
Regarding the ratios, they can appear that way with the meter set to gain reduction (GR), as the lower ratios have a softer knee. This means when the signal is in the knee area, GR can actually be higher when comparing lower ratios with higher ratios.
Hope this explains it, but if you actually mean the attack and release is faster when set CCW (a lower value) please let us know!
Keith.
