Our multitrack recording leaves some tracks 1 second long and plays a glitching noise. Unless we format the drive every time before use, it will do this. We record every Sunday at church.

We are using a USB cable. Cable Description is below off amazon website:

Conmdex USB C Cable is a true USB 3.1 Gen2 cable, fully compliant with the latest USB specifications. It boasts lightning-fast data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, allowing you to sync 4K movies, your entire photo library, or over 100 music albums from your phone to other devices in just seconds.
We are using a Samsung T5 SSD harddrive

The attached photo shows some tracks within the recording as a tiny file (size-wise) and others the normal length.

    Please help.

Sometimes the stuff you buy on Amazon is fake or out of spec. I have no idea if this is the case here, but it could be. Still given the fact that you don’t have a problem on the weeks that you format the HD leads me to believe you have a HD issue. It could be that the HD simply is not compatible with the SQ series. I know that console is VERY finicky about it’s USB thumb drives. Please read this article for some helpful information.

EDIT – Actually according to that article, A&H actually recommends that you format your HD before each use. It seems like they know there is an issue that formatting removes.

I had lots of problems trying to use the Samsung T5 SSD to record on my SQ6. Lots!

My solution was to use an external drive (either spinning or SSD) in an enclosure that had an external (wall-wart) power supply. I make up the story that the USB port in the SQ line does not have sufficient power to run a drive by itself.

Since moving over to OWC drive enclosures with both spinning and SSDs, I have not had any problems recording from my SQ6’s USB port.

Thanks for the reply, yeah It’s a bit of a silly quirk. Looks like formatting will have to be the resolution!
