we’ve been waiting for this. My question is if it’s possible to play songs that weren’t recorded in the mixer and put them in to play in the background before the show, thanks.

No mp3.2024/06/14 at 3:11 pm #123045Nati mix 2ParticipantI tried to insert such files into the mixer and I failed. Where do I see them in the mixer and how do I insert them?

We have a ‘CQ How To’ video about stereo playback from a USB drive here –
Thanks!

I have tried different methods for getting this work but I cannot see any files to play back.
I have removed all the TAGS from the MP3 files I had , Then Converted then into WAV Files 44.1 Khz / 128 Bit Sampling rate.
I am running the current firmware V1.2.0
I have formatted the USB stick using the CQ Mixer and then droped the files into the USBPlayback folder
Is there a certain file format naming convention then is needed ? No Spaces , No Numbers or special Characters ?
Cheers
Steve
2024/08/29 at 3:25 pm #125112KeithJ A&HModeratorCould you send a copy of one of the files through to us – support@allen-heath.com (maybe mention this thread), we should be able to figure it out.
Thanks,

I think I have figured it out although it is going to be quite time consuming.
A standard mp3 to wav converter does not appear to format the files that the CQ will accept.
I am having to load each file into Reaper and then render them down into a WAV file from there.would be great if the unit could handle mp3 files as well wav files.
Cheers

2024/09/07 at 3:00 pm #125408DubzParticipantI would also like to see the addition of MP3 playback.
We all know about quality of file formats, however the majority of Djs use mp3 file formats due to the popular dj softwares allowing you to specific information to mp3 files for which you cannot on WAV files.
And the speed to which you can transfer these said files to a USB drive is important. No one wants to have duplicate files of the same song on their Hardrive if they can help it.
My files on my laptop are 320bitrate MP3 quality which are not far off from WAV files.
Allen & Heath please add this feature even if it’s just for playback.2024/09/20 at 12:34 pm #125789KrischanParticipantYes, having an MP3 playback feature would be great. I initially thought the unit had this capability, which was one of the reasons I purchased it. My plan was to prepare a small USB stick with some songs, so I would always have music ready for breaks—without the hassle of pairing a mobile device via Bluetooth or needing a USB-C adapter for 3.5mm jacks
