ME-1 Loses Talkback input after sq5 connection

We use an Avantis console with a 4816 stagebox connected to our ME one system. Mid week, another group uses the same stagebox and ME one system with an SQ5. We have an issue where all the inputs stay where they belong on the ME ones except for the talkback channel. We have to re-map that channel to every ME one every time we go back to the Avantis from the SQ five system. Is there a workaround or set up aspect that I missing?

How are you routing your talkback to the ME-1s? I generally route talkback to a GROUP or AUX then map that mix to one of the keys on the ME at the console’s I/O page. If you are configuring talkback on the ME-1s themselves, then I would suggest using a mix routed at your Avantis instead.
