The Recorded level is way to low… When the source is low, amplifying it will only add noise. How do we more accurately set recording levels so that we have appropriate amplitude?

    Thank you.

    Hi Djam,

What are you recording currently? Mutlitrack with direct outputs or Stereo with a mix bus?

If you are multitrack recording, I recommend using the direct outputs, as this means you can boost the level using the direct output trim.

If you are using the stereo recording, you could use an available mix bus to do a dedicated recording mix.

    Thanks!

Okay, that makes sense. For multitrack using the Direct outputs, Are they Pre-fade? Normally in a multitrack environment each channel would be recorded at their optimum level where you can properly mix down to stereo.

Can they be Pre or Post fade?

    Regards,

    Dwayne.

    Hi Djam,

The direct outputs have an option to follow faders or mutes, so you can have a pre or post fader option, but with the added flexibility to chose the pick off point.

You can find more information here: https://www.allen-heath.com/media/Qu-Mixer-Reference-Guide-AP9372_10.pdf#page=38&zoom=auto,-274,849

    Thanks!
