Hye guys…for wedding normally the audio level need to be slow so people can hear and talk to each other.when i mix band for foh and i drop the dca fader(group of band and vocal) to certain level the audio clarity is gone and sound muddy.if im not mistake dca fader -20 to -30 its start lost its clarity.if playback from laptop i can go lower and the sound are clear
My setup dlive console all input signal band and vocal are reaching almost 0 db and all route to coordinated subgroup ctrol by dca direct to LR…main speaker amp are set to full same as subwoofer….
I need to know why sound clarity is gone when i drop fader to certain level -20 or less

I suspect it comes down to the acoustics in the room, but that is just a guess at this point. However, if you really feel like it is the console doing something weird, you should try turning down level on your amps/speakers instead of dropping the levels in the console as much. If it’s really a console issue, this will help prevent it from happening. It’s also a good test to see if it’s the console or the room. If you leave the console alone and drop the speaker levels by 20db and get the same “loss of clarity”, then you know it’s the room and not the system.

Your L/R mix will stay the same, only the level to the PA is defined by the matrix.2024/09/21 at 3:40 am #125806EdParticipantTq for reply….i did using matrix fed out to speaker….most cases i using matrix only….i didnt try reducing fader level in matrix yet but it will cause all the microphone drop also which i have to gain up everything.i will try and see what i can do
2024/09/21 at 3:43 am #125807EdParticipantTq for suggestion.i hear it live.im thinking the same method turning down the amp so i didnt turn down the fader so much that cause the sound quality drop…..the problem is,it will effect all the microfone which i have to gain up as much i turn down the amp

Does the band use stage monitors, live on stage guitar amps, acoustic drums?
You could just be hearing more stage wash into the room when you turn the PA level down and that never sounds good!If that is it keep in mind that stage wash has always been there but covered up by the PA. Getting the band to go amp less and use in ear monitors can really clean up a mix both at low volume and higher volume.
I like to think of it as acoustic signal to noise ratio.

Do you have any effects on the mix? Are they set to be post fade?
Are you using any audio subgroups?
