knob button only on start up

I bought a used CQ-18t and on delivery only the 3 knobs on the left light up on start up. I tried a hard reset. I only have one power source that says it is the correct specs but do not have an alternate to try.
The box on delivery was damaged but I don’t see any damage on the unit. I’m fairly handy and wondering if I should open the unit up to see if a ribbon or something came undone. I can return the unit but wanted to see if there was anything else I could try first.
