Hello,
I am the sound technician at my High School’s theatre department. We are currently putting on Newsies and we are running 31 mics. For this reason I planned on using Mixing Station’s IDCA feature, as the Qu only has 4 DCAS available, to design the scene cues.I am having issues with connection because of the school’s IT department, and I am trying to trouble shoot it.
I would like to use my laptop to run Mixing Station because it is where I do most my work, and I feel most comfortable using it, but I cannot connect to the Qu board over the wifi because the school’s IT department do not allow non-administration devices to be on the non-guest wifi.
I have a usb-c to cat5 ethernet adapter, so I was wondering if I could use that to tether the computer to the console. I tried earlier today, but could not get it to work. It simply gives the same error that the console is in a different subnet and that there is 100% packet loss.
Would anyone know a way I can tether the laptop to the console. I apologize if this is a dumb question, I have not used this feature with any Allen and heath boards before.
If it is simply impossible I can go to fight with admin to get access to the main network, or to get them to download mixing station onto an approved device, but I would like to avoid this if possible because they tend to take multiple weeks to sort through these sorts of problems.
Thank you.

Anyway, why don’t you use a dedicated access point/router for the mixer like most of us do ? That way you’d be completely independant of the house system ?
Good luck !

They haven’t used any sort of network connection at all until I’ve started, and I’ve always just used connection over the house wifi connection for any boards I use. We have not had a technical director for the years I have been here. Everything I have done is kind of self taught, so I’m always open to being told a better, more streamlined, way of doing things.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try YouTube so you also get a visual idea of what to do.
If at first you don’t get the results you expected, change the wording of your search.
eg: how do I connect A&H Qu 32 to Mixing Station wirelessly.
I’m about to look at doing the same thing for the Venue I mix for.
My only advise!
Don’t overthink the process … -
