In Config the enabled network is Eithernet. How do I get it to reflect WIFI–The CQ 20b has a flashing blue light.

Double check you’re not in demo mode in the app.
To switch between WiFi and Ethernet connections with a flashing LED when first turned on, press the reset switch momentarily.

As it’s a brand new unit, you could try carrying out a full factory reset as shown here too – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3paeL9xKxoI
Then make sure you are using the latest version of the app before you connect and if there is an update to be carried out, follow the on screen instructions.

    Thanks,
    Keith.

I have been waiting since last friday for Am Music & Sound to return my call so you Keith are my last resort. My I pad has the firmware loaded and the CQ screen will appear however in config the I-Pad will not allow me to change the Eithernet setting to WIFI even though the CQ’s light is flashing Blue. I have a new E-Mail Add
<hughshouse@skybest.com> Please have some one contact me for some help in setting up the new CQ20b.

Is the iPad app actually connected to the CQ device? If you find the app unresponsive, my guess is that you are not actually connected to the CQ device. Double check that the iPad is connected to the correct wireless network (the SSID being broadcast by the CQ device) and not another unrelated WiFi connection (like you home network if you are doing this at home). It’s normal for a devices to automatically connect to their preferred network in the event they loose connection to a WiFi network, so even if the iPad started out connected to the CQ device, it might have lost connection and then defaulted to another WiFi network without you noticing it.

Thank you Brian for trying to help: I have identified the CC20b in the WIFI selection box in my I-Pad’s settings menu. The problem now appears to be providing the password required and I have no record of recording a pass word last friday when the AM&S teck helped get the firmware on my I-Pad. At 2:00 PM today the same teck called me & said if I could conduct a hard reset back the factory default settings, no pass word would be necessary. I have done the exact reset Keith described a dozen times and after touching the connect button the pass word request reappears. Apparently my unit will not respond or the teck was wrong in stating a factory reset would eliminate the password request. My dealer is 100 miles away so later this week I will return the CQ20b for correction or replacement as a last resort. Thanks again for trying to help.

I stand to be corrected but if you do a hard reset I believe that the WiFi reverts to an open setting, that is no password is needed.
However to connect the mix-pad app you must be already connected to the CQ20.

One of the problems with WiFi is that many devices want to change to a strong known network so make sure any strong network is not set to connect automatically. By default the iPad will select the strongest network and prefer those with internet connectivity.

The AM&S technician is not wrong, a full factory reset will clear all settings including the network settings and WiFi password.
There’s good advice here from Brian and Chienmort with regards to iPads (and other devices) preferring connections to other networks.

To cover all of these, following a reset, go through the following.
    – With the CQ-MixPad app open and on the ‘choose unit’ screen, drag down from the top right of the iPad screen to see settings overlay. Hold your finger on the WiFi symbol and you’ll be able to check you’re connected to the CQ’s network.
    – Back in the app, you’ll be able to see your CQ in the list to connect to, which will prove you’re on the right network and that the CQ is working correctly.
    – When you connect to it, you’ll be asked to SET a password for the WiFi, as new regulations to ensure WiFi security have come in. This can just be something simple like 12345678.
    – Now you’ll get kicked off the network, because your iPad doesn’t know the password for it (yet).
    – Go back to your iPad network settings and rejoin to the CQ’s network – this time it will ask for the password that you just set (e.g. 12345678).
    – Finally, open CQ-MixPad again, you should see the CQ in the list (as long as you’re still on the right wireless network!) and will be able to connect to it.

If you’re talking with AM&S then it might confuse things to open a ticket with us too, but if you do want to contact us directly, please submit a ticket through support.allen-heath.com.

    Thanks!
    Keith.

Thank you Keith for the detailed road map to “Get Hooked Up”. Over the past 15 years I set up I-Pad control for my QU16, QUsb & SQ5 a with a bit of savy help from AM&S: None of these were as diffacult as the CQ20b has been. I have by trial and error been able to get out of demo mode and my I-Pad now reflects the CQ20b for WIFI conection. in the config screen I have WIFI access point, open security, 5.0Ghz frenq, ssid VISIBLE—- The rest I have not at this point established. I will follow your instructions to the best of my ability. However I really do not want or need any automation but need to have full manual access to all of the contolling parameters, just as I do with my SQ5. Apparently I will probably need help from A&H to get there: does everybody have this much trouble setting up a CQ20b?

Keith–Good news, I have established connection between the CQ20b and mt I-Pad. I ran some recorded music in the ST #1 inputs and the HP response is pretty good: however I am not able to get any response from a mic. I need to know kow to get a visual connection with all of the primary management tools without the automation features.

If you don’t want to use any Quick Channels, go to the HOME tab in the HOME screen, then press Quick Start and recall ‘All Complete’.
This will get you to a state that should be fairly familiar in the PROCESSING screen, being that you’re comfortable with the SQ.

There’s a full playlist of ‘How To’ videos which goes through this and the basics of the whole mixer here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abk2VOIUPjs&list=PLq3_zC_Xz0PhzmZibU9d1Zz9CnK4KUmSq

    Thanks,

    Thanks again Keith,
The Youtube videos are very helpful and at this point I am getting a better than expected sonic response from both XLR inputs as well as pre recorded music via the stereo inputs. I am having a lot more trouble with manipulating gain with the CQ than with the SQ I-Pad software so I elected to use the auto gain algo. I have been a “set it & Leave it” practioner for my own shows so full time manipulation is not in my playbook, however the ability to efficiently set all parameters initially is very important to me. There probably are some “Mixing on Glass” best use practices that I have never been exposed to so I will need to get a lot better at dialing in what I need when I need it!

This morning my WIFI setting reveals only my Internet address and the CQ20b setting is not recognized? Apparently my newly established pass word is acceptable. What precisley is the WIFI add needed and where do I find it; I tried the 192.168.2.1 that appeared on the connect screen after touching the CQ icon however it got locked up on connecting. I think my proper IP address is 192.168.2.20

MY I-Pad does not offer a _ but only a – and the problem was my WIFI address apparently requires a _ between the CQ20b_xxxx. In the future I will make certain my internet router is not engaged when signing into the CQ20b. I may not be the brightest digital bulb trying to hook up a new CQ20b, however I am suspicious there are a lot of folks that will be traveling the rocky start up road I have been experiencing.

My biggest disapointment in these matters has been with the mediocre, less than comprehensive help these days from AM&S thus requireing this very long thread.

Well, my iPad offers a “_”, as all iOS devices do. You better check your manual for where to find it on your keyboard. Might change depending on the localization settings.
