Hi,
I was wondering if there were plans to add HUI/3rd party control like in your other mixers?
I know it’s nice to actually grab a fader sometimes š

2023/09/25 at 10:51 am #115129Do you mean MIDI control of the mixer?
Or are you suggesting MIDI channel strips?
There is no HUI control of our mixers, but you can use MIDI channel strips on other ranges to make use of their motorised faders and control DAW faders via the A&H MIDI Control app. Thanks,
Keith.2023/09/25 at 11:22 am #115132I meant, is there some way to use my HUI control interface to set fader levels (and possibly more) on the mixer?
The control app seems to indicate that this is possible for other mixers, but your comment indicates it isn’t.
I’ve just purchased a CQ-20, and it would be nice to just pull a fader to change levels since it doesn’t have a touchscreen to do it. Yes, I can do it in the app, but…

So, does the midi control app work for the CQ series?
2023/09/27 at 9:31 am #115168I think the question is about implementing midi in/out via USB for the CQ series.

As the CQ does not (currently) have MIDI capability, there is nothing for the app to work with. It’s possible to use standard MIDI CC messages to control other ranges with the app, you could also translate messages using software or a BomeBox and control the mixer using its MIDI protocol.
(e.g. https://www.allen-heath.com/media/SQ-MIDI-Protocol-Issue5.pdf )Another option for control using MIDI hardware is via the 3rd party Mixing Station app.
Thanks,
Keith.2023/09/27 at 8:38 pm #115188Ah, I had thought perhaps the CQ app used MIDI under the covers. But it sounds like it uses it’s own protocol. I’m guessing that’s undocumented/proprietary?
I’m not sure how MIDI translation software will help, since, as you said, the CQ series doesn’t have MIDI.
2023/09/28 at 8:36 am #115197Hello KeithJ.
You said CQ does not (currently) have MIDI capability
Is it a scheduled feature for soon or later ?
Can you officially say it ?
When I hook my CQ12T to any PC and software that uses midi, I have a CQ12T midi device that appears.
Looks like it is just blocked IN and OUT up to now.
Is this something you are allowed to talk about ?Many thanks for all your input and support.
2023/09/28 at 9:58 am #115199MIDI control of CQ is something we’ve had a few requests for, so is on the list for consideration.
If it’s something that you need/want, please do shout about it! (or, you know… mention politely). It is quite a bit of development and test work adding all the MIDI control to the unit and the app, so it will depend on demand whether it is implemented at what kind of priority it gets.
Thanks,
Keith.2023/09/28 at 10:24 am #115201Tks, I appreciate the answer.
I think that it would be a very valuable feature, for my CQ12T but also for the others.
The lack physical control could be compensate in a very easy way with midi.
I build home made midi controllers and I also have a stream deck plus and possibilities are endless with midi.
It could also be very handy for control via software, scenes changes, mute, FX mod etc.2023/10/06 at 4:42 pm #115449+1 for optional, external faders. You could even release your own external faderboard with lets say 8 faders.
2023/11/05 at 6:01 am #116300Hey!
+1 for MIDI Control as well, Iām currently researching digital mixers for purchase, and the Qu Range is overkill for my needs but I love the MIDI control for my live event workflow using bitfocus Companion.
If the CQ range had the same MIDI control it would be a purchase in a heart beat!
