Hi,
I’m trying to connect an AB168 to an SQ5 via a network switch with the ultimate goal of running the connection via fiber between two switches.
I have currently set this up as a test with the SQ5 connected to a non POE port on a gigabit switch and the AB168 connected to another non POE port on the same switch. There is nothing else connected to the switch.
The problem is that as soon as I connect the SLink on the SQ5 to the switch, the board lights up like a Christmas tree with all the Input and Pk lights blinking with popping on the channels.
The AB168 does not get recognized.
I have tried many different CAT5 cables and a few different gigabit switches, including Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8, a Netgear GS 108 and a Netgear M4250 GSM4212P, all with the same results.
Audio clock source: I/O Port (SQ Dante). This needs to be the clock source as I’ll be running a Dante network.
I’ve read through the forums but haven’t found anything that pertains to this particular issue found when connecting the SLink to the switch.
I have a small bit of passing familiarity with network knowledge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

AND nothing else in that VLan or you will get a very unstable, if any, connection.2023/06/16 at 4:36 pm #113352BlenderParticipantHi Søren,
Thank you for your quick reply.

The switches being used for this test support both 1Gbit and 100Mbit devices.

There is nothing else on the switch, only the SQ5 and the AB168. And they don’t connect at all.
Best,
Michael

I think the AB168 default trains to 100Mbit on the switch, ibut to be sure you should configure that port to 100Mbit as well.2023/06/16 at 5:40 pm #113354BlenderParticipantHey Søren,
Thank you for this information. I’ll try your suggestion.
Much appreciated!

2023/06/16 at 6:37 pm #113356BlenderParticipantWhat brand / model of 100Mbit ethernet to fiber converter did/do you use?
2023/06/16 at 7:00 pm #113358Søren SteinmetzParticipantOlder Allied Telesis AT-FS705EFC/SC SWITCHES
And some noname converters model: 227605
Tested the TP-Link MC100CM as well without problems.

TP-Link should have a version with LC connectors (or SFP cage) as well.
2023/06/16 at 7:38 pm #113362BlenderParticipantHey Søren,
I found an old D-Link 10/100 switch laying around the shop and plugged both the SQ5 and AB168 into that.
Success!
I’ll look into one of the 100mbit ethernet to fiber converters you suggested.
Thank you very much for your quick responses and diligence in helping me to find the solution. Much appreciated!
Cheers,
Michael
