    I have a GLD 80 with an AR2412 dSnake. I have two preamps on the AR2412 that are making a hissing/white noise sound. At the board there are no pads on either channel and currently have the gain level a 5, which is the lowest I can go. Turning the preamp gain up or down has no affect on the volume of the hissing but turning the trim up or down does. Turning the trim down to -24 lowers the hiss but it doesn’t completely go away. With the trim at 0 the level of the hissing is between -30 and -20. I’m starting to think I might just have a couple bad preamps. Looking for any further suggestions for troubleshooting before I look to send the AR2412 out for repair. Thanks.

    @Josh

    That does unfortunately sound like a hardware issue – trim is applied digitally in the processing channel of the GLD, where gain is a digitally controlled analogue preamp in the AR2412. So the fact the noise is not affected by gain control, but is affected by trim does point to the AR2412.

    For repair, please contact your distributor – https://www.allen-heath.com/community/distributors/

    Thanks, and hope you manage to get it back to full health soon.
    Keith.

    @Keithj. Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling it was going to be hardware but wanted to make sure so didn’t overlook something while troubleshooting.
