Hi,
the release notes for the new Firmware V1.5.11 state
‘Additional Features:
…
ID-1986: Support new channel display hardware..’
What does that refer to?

Is this a new version that’s to be expected? In the download section there is only a version V1.5.0…2024/08/07 at 12:08 pm #124474SQuserParticipantPlease calm down. 🙂
It is only to clarify that 1.5.x is compatible with 1.5.x and not with 1.4.x.2024/08/07 at 1:05 pm #124478Simon2ParticipantI AM calm. 😁
But also curious. So is it just a typo?
It’s kind of weird to state a compatibility to a version that doesn’t exist…Any thoughts on ‘… new channel display hardware…’?
2024/08/07 at 4:07 pm #124483KeithJ A&HModeratorRegarding the channel display hardware: We often need to make updates to support hardware changes. In this case it’s being able to identify different channel strip display modules so they can be sent the correct information to display the correct text/colour. Nothing to worry about unless you try to install older firmware on a unit using newer hardware and find that your channel screens don’t light up or something, then we’ll just suggest you update!
Regarding the SQ MixPad revision number: No, it’s not a typo, it’s hypothetical and the same as saying SQ MixPad V1.5.x will work with firmware V1.5.y. The point is that the major release number must match.
Thanks,

So the ‘new channel display hardware’ is just ‘under the hood’ and nothing a normal user could see, right?
@1.5.2: OK, but why not just write ‘1.5.x’ but that very specific (but non existent) number?
it’s really confusing.2024/08/07 at 5:30 pm #124488SQuserParticipant> So the ‘new channel display hardware’ is just ‘under the hood’ and nothing a normal user could see, right?
I think, also users of consoles with the new hardware want and will see their channel displays. 😉
I assume, however, that there will be no noticeable difference to the old hardware.> why not just write ‘1.5.x’
In this case, someone might ask where version 1.5.x is available.2024/08/07 at 6:18 pm #124495Simon2Participant>… assume, however, that there will be no noticeable difference to the old hardware.
Understood.>…In this case, someone might ask where version 1.5.x is available
Are you kidding?2024/08/07 at 6:48 pm #124497SQuserParticipant> Are you kidding?
I’m afraid so. )2024/08/21 at 5:37 am #124918jb07Participantwhat is the difference between the old display and the new one? photo?
2024/08/21 at 12:46 pm #124922KeithJ A&HModeratorThe difference is in how it’s driven electronically to achieve the same output.
So a photo would be no use as with V1.5.11 or higher installed they should look and behave in exactly the same way! Thanks,
Keith. -
