The English language might be a hindrance.

I’m sorry, but I don’t really understand your question?

Can you rephrase or restate it?

    I don’t understand the question as well…

the external mix input is no alternative… it’s an addition… so ?

    Hi Superclip.

The mix external input can be used to assign an Input socket directly to an output bus, which can be useful for shout systems for example.

    Thanks!

In the set up stage of my SQ6 I accidentally used the EXT. Mix in to do some patching thinking I was on the input mix. This caused me hours of frustration later. Due to the fact that I had sources in my monitor mixes that I could not control the volume. I finally figured out my mistake and unpatched those channels on the ext. in mix. Presto I had control of my monitors again. Good information just in case someone else makes that mistake.

One use case for “ext mix in” is to add a room/audience mic to a “dry” mix of a reverberant church where you don’t use any reverb for the FOH because the reverb is naturally there already, but want to have a natural-sounding mix in speakers outside the church.
