Just wondering how the DT boxes work within a wider dante network not just point to point.
For instance, if I have 2 SQs on the newtwork and split share the box’s inputs for both desk, would one desk have to be the master to control the preamps and other only get trim, or can both share control with live update of gain between?
    Thank you

1: yes Dante devices work on a network, not just point to point, as that is how the protocol is made.

2: No problem having 2 SQs (or any other Dante enabled console) connected to the same DT168, just remember as you mention only 1 SQ will be the HeadAmp controller, any other console should “only” be using Trim/Digital gain.
(I have not tested with 2 consoles to see if the gain “follows” on both, so changes on one can be seen direct on the other)

Small correction: with DT168 and DT164-W, multiple A&H consoles can have control of the preamps at the same time, and the audio can be sent direct from the DT boxes to both mixers. In this configuration, there is no single ‘owner’ of the preamps.

Søren is correct that Dante devices can be networked. There are some limitations on number of DT boxes and Dante cards in a system (especially when running Dante Domain Manager), documented in the Dante firmware release notes, but your setup sounds absolutely fine.
