    I own a SQ-7 and thinking of upgrading to a Dlive. I already have a DX168. So if I get the C1500 Surface + CDM32. Can I connect the DX168 to it ?.

    As per my understanding C1500 has 6 Outputs , CDM32 has 16 and DX168 has 8. So would I be able to get 6 + 16 + 8 = 30 MIX Busses?.

Physical outputs (which you are counting as 30) and mix buses are completely two different things. The dLive can be configured to have a combinations of mono/stereo groups, FX, aux, matrix, PAFL, and main L/R/M (etc.) buses. Go into the MixRack setup page to see the combinations before you run out of FPGA/DSP (not sure the right term).

What are you wanting to do/achieve?

    Brent,

Appreciate your quick response. So as I mentioned, I have an SQ7 and it gives me LR , Matrix & Mixes. I now have a Tech-Rider, where the band is requesting 16 Mixes for IEM & Stage Monitors & Side-Fills. So basically, I am maxing out on my Monitor Mixes on my SQ.

Hence, I am looking at an option to having more Monitor Mixes (in addition to L/R, FX).

Makes sense. The dLive, I believe, can do 64 buses. So, if you have LR and 16 stereo IEMs, that leaves a lot left for any groups, FXs, matrices, and aux buses you may want. Hopefully someone else can confirm my assumptions.

As noted, the DLive has a flexible buss architecture. It has 64 busses which can be set to anything – Auxes, Groups, FX sends, Main Outputs (LR, LR+M, 5.1, etc), Matrixes, and PAFL (headphone) outputs. Don’t forget about needing PAFL when calculating your buss needs. These can also be mono or stereo (PAFL is stereo). However you have to assign mono busses in even numbers within the same type of busses. So if you need one mono aux and one mono group, you’ll actually need to use 4 total busses (two mono auxes and two mono groups). The system won’t let you simply assign one mono aux and one mono group even though combined you still have an even number of mono busses.

As far as connecting the DX devices, they are plug and play. There are two DX ports on the Mixrack that can support a max of 2 DX32, or 4 other DX boxes (DX168, 012, 66p, etc) and there is one DX port on the C1500 surface (which will support one DX32 or 2 other DX boxes without redundancy).

    Two more things:

the C1500 has an AES output too, so it can have up to 8 output channels.

The new Rack Ultra FX card adds 8 extra FX buses to the system, which are used exclusive with the new card.
This allows more mixes with other use cases.
