I was a long time Cubase user as well. Made the switch to Reaper last year and not looking back… No cost to try it out, $60 if you like it.

I use Adobe Audition but I’m not sure it is available by its self at the moment. Part of the Adobe Suite for a monthly subscription.
    Hoping it becomes available again.
Most people I talk to are using Protools or Reaper.

And Reaper you can run from a memory stick!?
I actually tried that when the QU range first came out on a Windows 7 Dell Laptop i7 8gig and it worked perfectly.

I used to use Audition, but when it went to a subscription-based program I switched to Reaper and am very happy I did. @mrvoltz, Adobe isn’t going to switch back. They’re making too much money with the subscription model. I suggest you try Reaper.
