SQ-MixPad is just one form of control for the XCVI core in the SQ, the main one being the mixer surface controls (touchscreen, faders, keys and rotaries) and others include the SQ4You app, scene recalls and MIDI.
All audio routing and processing happens in the core so without it, there can be no EQ/Compressor/Send levels/Mutes etc…
Meaning there is no way to use or practice the audio mixing without having the actual mixer hardware.
The only thing I can think of which you could do, is to find and use plugins in the DAW to approximate the signal processing available in the SQ.
This would at least provide a better understanding of what various values sound like and many of these can be easily transferred to the desk as starting points when you do have access.
