I’m trying to set my CQ up with Nuendo and am wondering how the outputs work back to the CQ for monitoring a mix. The driver gives me 24 ins and 24 outs. I think I understand the additional inputs: 17-24 are assignable.

But what I don’t understand is what the additional outputs, 17-24 do.
DAW outputs 17/18 seem to go with the CQ Stereo Inputs.
DAW outputs 19/20 seem to go with the CQ USB Input and if I set Nuendo’s Stereo Mix out to 19/20, that works, and I get audio on the CQ USB Input. I don’t find this documented though – I just kept picking outputs until I saw signal coming into the CQ.
21/22 & 23/24 – what are they for? I sent audio out from Nuendo but didn’t see anything coming back into the CQ on any channel.

The DAW section of the manual could use a little more fleshing out, maybe. The Send Audio to the DAW part make sense, but the Send Audio from DAW to CQ doesn’t really, or not completely. It seems to cover playing DAW tracks back to the CQ on the same channel they were recorded on. But the normal DAW scenario is Mix in the DAW and send a Stereo mix back to the CQ for monitoring – ideally this would return to the CQ’s Main bus. But the only way I could get it to work was to use the USB channel (DAW 19/20) and bring it up on the Main bus. Is this how it is supposed to work?

    Hi Bullmoon,

Can see that your post hasn’t been responded to. I may be talking total crap but was setting up my CW20b with a DAW and was having issues with daw playback, maybe it’s what you need?

    My workflow:
    Audio source
    Cq20b
    Via USB-B to DAW
I’m monitoring from the headphones out on cq

I’ve managed to set the incoming audio to DAW no problem but getting the mix back to CQ was not intuitive.

What I did was: configure CQ so I’m getting what I need in the phones. Choose a free input on CQ, configure and change the source from analog to USB. Configure the DAW so that I’m getting the input (and hear it through CQ). Set the output of that channel into the input I’ve pre-configed.

Result – getting the audio source into CQ and DAW, can play this track and receive it in CQ, can still get the audio source.

Latency is acceptable (buffer set at 512).

Big issue was that I initially used Asio4all, for CQ to DAW it worked but when I wanted to listen to the DAW playback, I received distorted sound with stuttering and artefacts. Used CQ driver and used CQ Asio device and this resolved the issue.
