Greetings – wishing everyone well in 2023.

So the church where I’m music directory is replacing our Soundcraft Vi3000 system at FOH with dual Avantis consoles (both w/DPACK, plus GX4816 / personal mixers / etc.) – one for FOH and one for broadcast. The consoles have been sitting with our A/V installer since this summer, and I just found out our Dante cards – which are delaying the entire install – are now delayed AGAIN UNTIL AT LEAST APRIL. Needless to say this is getting a bit ridiculous on the wait.

We were going to be sending the audio over Dante to link the two consoles (two physically different locations) hence why we’ve been waiting. Are there any alternatives options that would allow us to get up and running not relying on Dante? Of course not having Dante kills virtual soundcheck, but these delays are starting to sound like Crestron.

Not to mention A&H doesn’t do the reps of their product any service – they were standing behind a late December ship date until they realized they didn’t have enough chips, and THEN let our contractor know we’re pushed to at least April. A&H should do better in communicating clearly to the people representing their product.

    MADI? GigaACE? Waves Soundgrid?

Soundgrid can do similar things than DANTE.

Thanks SteffanR – both of those are the options I’ve explored, but it seems both of those cards are also hard to come by. It appears we’re more or less buggered at the moment with the limited availability of their accessory cards. Our new mixing system have been sitting in our A/V contractor’s warehouse for close to a year before we see it installed – all because of accessory cards; crazy.

It would be enough to install one GigaACE card.

Avantis with GigaACE and SLink connected to GX4816, other Avantis connects to the GigaACE card from the other console with SLink.

The problem with the Dante gear is the same for all manufacturers at the moment.

Thanks again, Steffen. Our A/V installer said that the GigaACE & Soundgrid cards are also problematic to come by at the moment – so think we’re kind of stuck waiting.

As a tangental question – if we wanted to get a waves card to use for broadcast – is it absolutely necessary to run a separate host machine and dsp server? Isn’t something like a new Mac Studio more than capable enough to run SuperRack in native mode for a single machine solution?
