There have been a number of new functions and features added since the release of the CQ product line, particularly with firmware v1.2; which demonstrates well A&H’s ability and commitment to enhance and evolve these units. There remains an ongoing number of outstanding feature requests and unresolved concerns; and it is a testament to A&H’s attentiveness that they provide this forum in which to register and discuss additional suggestions.
It is certain, however, that not all of the items raised can be addressed within the physical constraints of the current product design.
As examples: Though there were no DCAs and Mute Groups in the initial product release, it was possible to add them as a software enhancement. However, if there is no physical means to route OUT (AUX) busses to the Main LR buss, then requests for SubGroup busses are impossible to address with the current product design, and will never be forthcoming.
It would be instructive if A&H were to indicate the feasibility of addressing these requests; perhaps on a scale of: POSSIBLE > POTENTIALLY POSSIBLE > IMPOSSIBLE
No commitment-to-address or time-scale should be necessary; but, at least, we could understand whether certain features can ever be addressed, or whether alternative solutions will need to be devised.
As a start, could A&H please comment on the feasibility of the following outstanding concerns:
– Out 1-6 bus routing to LR (i.e. subgrouping)
– Ability to disable channel routing to LR bus
– Channel-specific input source point selection for Out 1-6
– Stereo panning of the LR bus
– Scope limiting when loading scenes (i.e. channel safes/snippets)
– Provision of general input/output channel routing matrix
– Simultaneous multitrack playback and record to SDThanks in advance for your consideration.

As you say, there are some CQ feature suggestions that are impossible (e.g. connection to a digital expander would never be possible as the network connection is for control only).
However, there are suggestions which we would need to investigate before being able to know whether or not they would be possible.
It’s not feasible to look into every single suggestion we receive, so to prioritise R&D time and effort, we look into the suggestions that are most popular here along with those that are fed back to us from dealers and distribution partners.
The only time we will jump in on the threads will generally be to say if something is absolutely not possible, so I’m afraid we will never catagorise suggestions in the way that you request.
We always recommend making a purchasing decision based on what the mixer can do today – of course we will do what we can to improve and expand functionality with firmware updates, but you shouldn’t base a purchase on what may or may not come in the future. Thanks,
Keith. -
