Circular playback position marker issue

When playing back a multitrack file that is 2 hours long, the circular playback position marker is frequently stuck at far right and only seems to “cover” just the first minutes of the file. I would think that this marker would calibrate itself to the entire length of the file. As it is now, I am unable to move it to a much later place in the file. If I touch it, it returns me to the the first minute of the file…

Any help?
