The GLD has one of the best Gates available – with side-chain, depth and several time constants! But…

There are times, particularly on a loud stage, where an Expander (aka downward-expander) would be VERY useful.

Please consider, for a future software/firmware release, adding a “Gate/Expander” mode selector to the channel Gate functionality.

Not to be pedantic, but for comparison of features between the Gate & Expander…

    • Common between Gate & Expander
    • sidechain
    • threshold
    • attack
    • release
    • Differences
    • hold (gate only)
    • depth (gate only)
    • ratio (expander only)
    • knee (expander only)

While performance testing would obviously be required as proof, I believe the processing overhead for the Expander would not be much greater than that of the Gate, particularly compared to such a full-featured Gate as on the GLD-112.
