CC-midi values and fader movements

I’m using the DAW controller to automate faders on the SQ5 from my DAW (Ableton). That works nicely albeit with a lost of resolution. A value of 127 reaches the top of the fader, and zero to the bottom, which is to be expected. But a CC-value of 71 moves the fader tot -45, meaning almost no sound, and a CC-value of 110 corresponds to 0 on the SQ-fader. That’s means that more than half of the already very coarse resolution of midi CC-messages is wasted. Is this normal behaviour, or do I something wrong? If not I would like to have more resolution around the zero pointy of the SQ faders i.e. a non-linear translation of CC midi values and fader movements.
