Not sure if its a fault or a bug.
Intermittently I have a loss of data to/from my GX48/16. The “READY” light goes out. Unplugging either end of the cat6 will restart it as will restarting the board or stage box. It’s a daily occurrence but randomly during the day, sometimes within an hour sometimes its 8 hours in.
Any one else having any problems? I would have a chat with my dealer but they are closed during the on going COVID issues.2020/04/23 at 8:31 am #91263SteffenRParticipantmaybe it’s a cable issue?
2020/04/23 at 10:32 am #91268mitch67ParticipantHi Steffen.
My initial thought so re ran cables.
The fact its so intermittent makes testing really difficult. Failed within half an hour this morning and no issues since, 3hrs later.2020/04/23 at 10:52 am #91270SteffenRParticipantwhat is the log saying?
2020/04/23 at 11:06 am #91271mitch67ParticipantAll is good no issues logged.
When it fails there is a barely audible click as if a relay has triggered and then another when it connects again. The desk is still seeing the stage box and you can change the patch etc. The only thing I’ve not tried yet is to pass audio from the stage box as I’m currently only using the inputs on the desk as we are only streaming audio and using a couple of channels of radio mic.
I’m using 6 outputs scattered over the 16 available on the stage box and all fail simultaneously. The more I type it sounds like the issue is likely to be with the stage box.2020/04/23 at 11:19 am #91273SteffenRParticipantis the powercord plugged right?
or it can be a loose connection inside…2020/04/23 at 11:29 am #91275mitch67ParticipantPower is never lost. Powering off and back on will rectify the issue. My colleague was fortunate enough to be looking at the stage box when it went off and the only visual cue was that the ready light went off.
2020/04/23 at 11:30 am #91276AlexIGParticipantTry plugging it into secondary see what happens. The primary ethernet plug could be messed up.
2020/04/23 at 11:39 am #91277SteffenRParticipantGX4816 has one usable network port only
do you have hubs switches or patchbays in the line?2020/04/23 at 12:14 pm #91279mitch67ParticipantStraight run, We installed two new Cat6 lines replacing the existing Cat5 ,we used for the iLive, when we got the Avensis. Same issue on both and I’ve tried a variety of patch leads.
2020/04/23 at 12:55 pm #91281SteffenRParticipantthen you have to replace the GX
or open it up and watch the connectors inside2024/08/12 at 1:38 pm #124644DjParticipantDid this ever get solved? Having the same issue
2024/08/12 at 2:35 pm #124645BrianParticipantYou should not experience regular connection problems. We’ve had a GX4816 connected to our Avantis for years now without a single (known) connection problem. Certainly nothing that caused audio to stop or be distorted. If you have issues, it is either a cable issue or a hardware issue with either the stage box or console. I think the easiest way to test it is to move the stage box next to the console and test it with a short cable. However make sure the cable is the recommended type (ie full copper STP Cat5e cable or better).

While I bet 95% of the failures are cable related, if the short cable experiences the same issues then it points to more of a hardware issue. You’ll want to contact your distributor for more assistance if this is the case.
