After touring for 3 weeks with an ip8 and laptop, which went great, I’d really like a bigger version of the controller. The short faders on ip8 is really hard to use in a live setting, it’s easy to nudge channels too much. I also really miss having rotary knob for panning and other stuff.
12 pcs 100mm faders, 3 buttons and a knob per fader, and some additional soft buttons would make it perfekt for my need. I have a C1500 also, but it too heavy for extended flying…

See added poorly photoshopped picture for inspiration 🙂

    A&H doesn’t have a suitable option currently.

However there is a “work around” that is available immediately. The third party app, Mixing Station, supports midi devices very well. It is just about plug and play to attach various motorized midi fader controllers via USB to the device running Mixing Station. It even works when you plug the midi device into phone or tablets running mixing station. There are a half dozen or so supported devices out of the box (meaning you don’t have to map/program every button of the midi device) and you can easily change the default mapping should you want to.

The Waves Fit Controller is one of those supported devices at it is very similar to your inspiration design. It’s not the cheapest option for fader controllers, but at only $1200 it’s still less expensive than the A&H IP8 which has half the faders and non of the other encoders that the Waves Fit Controller has.

Yes I know that solution, but I don’t want a 3rd party solution. I want to use Director, don’t like the Mixing station GUI. It’s ok for small tweaks, but not as my main software…

    Great Idea.

You could run both… Mixing Station in the background for the fader bank integration and Director in the foreground for everything else.

(Also, you’re not the only person who really wishes A&H made essentially a C1500 without a screen or the DX ports, I/O slots, etc.)

    And just to add:

    > don’t like the Mixing station GUI.
If that’s the reason, you may have only looked briefly at the possibilities.
Because you can create your own GUI really there down to the last detail – until you will like it.
