I am having difficulty configuring my in-ear monitors aux outs to where the iPADs (or board) can configure reverb and delay to their liking. What happens is that the main sliders on the board add the effects to the in-ears. It appears the effects for the aux’s are Post instead of Pre. Using the Pre button setting sequence, it’s easy to pre\post on the inputs, but I am not seeing how to have independent AUX effects via the iPad app allowing me to adjust house independently. Forgive my newness to the board, it could be something obvious or an assumption. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

To be more clear, I need all in-ears (aux’s) to have independent control of effects (reverb & delay) from their Mix App. My same effects for house, should not increase or decrease levels in their ears….. but it does. So much we have to drop the delay effect.

    Maybe I’m misunderstanding it:
Have you remembered that FX usually has two Pre/Posts: one on the Send and one on the Return?
In the first case it refers to the LR Mix faders of the channels and in the second case to the LR Mix faders of the FX Returns.

Hi. We I guess maybe I did, like on an analog board but I still have the dilemma. Any ideas on whats up? I was expecting to be on the AUX page and hit send and see whether its pre or post but there is no setting there. I mean if there was a way to return their individual effects to them… just not working. Appreciate any ideas.

Switch the FX returns to pre fader sends on the aux/mix in question.

I am assuming the edit screen on the aux will have this selection? I do recall that selecting the top of the aux screen that reveals pre and post… but no effects are present in that view. I have to drive over to look and update. Thanks.

FX-Send is a separate mix to (!) a FX, comparable to a mix to an Aux.
In an Aux Mix itself you will obviously not find (any other Aux Mix or) FX-Send, but only FX Returns (i.e. coming from an FX!).

Here is what they are. All are pre. Some are post PEQ some are Post Preamp. Not sure why.

Ok, so I can’t send the pic. All auxs are on and pre. If I select the box rev and vox delay they are all post and the upper right is post delay.

I would think all of the auxs should be Post Peq for the source point. Not a mix of post Peq and Post Pre. I realize that each aux (iem) for me cannot have their own reverb and delay customized, but as an entire aux group they should be able to have a certain level of reverb and delay, while the house has its own.

    > Here is what they are.
    > Ok, so I can’t send the pic.
    Why? It’s easy.

    > All are pre.
FX sends pre would be rather unusual, but that doesn’t mean they’re forbidden.
But it could be your problem.

    > Some are post PEQ some are Post Preamp. Not sure why.
Someone from your team (or you yourself) set it up that way.

    > I would think all of the auxs should be Post Peq for the source point. Not a mix of post Peq and Post Pre.
There is no rule as to what the settings have to be – different can make sense.
However, you have the freedom to change them to suit your use case.

Attached is part of the block diagram (manual page 86) where you should understand the FX path.

No pic due to iPhone size. Sorry, not convenient.
A&H says I can’t do what I am asking. Otherwise I would be managing 12 diff effects. I simply want all aux’s managing their own effects, even if all auxs (IEMs) are at the same levels. Then house needs to be able to adjust without affecting the auxs. If you are doing this, please let me know. That would be helpful.

    > No pic due to iPhone size.
You can even reduce the size of iPhone pics.

    > A&H says I can’t do what I am asking.
If even the manufacturer says that, then you should believe it.

    > Otherwise I would be managing 12 diff effects.
    “Otherwise”?
    Then why not?
12 are available to you in Avantis and you could use all of them.

The rest I don’t understand, unfortunately.
Just one more thing: If each of your musicians really insists on separate FX in their in-ears that are not used for the sound system – for example, different reverbs with different reverb times – then you will of course really need an additional FX engine for each of these special requests.

But if it’s just a matter of using the same FX as in the sound system, as is quite common, and just adjusting their levels separately, then I’m afraid you have simply not understood the principle (there are up to 5 faders in series that can influence the intensity of an FX) despite the signal path being marked in the block diagram.
But then I can’t help you any further.
