    Looking for some advice on troubleshooting a brand-new AHM-32.

    On a long-term system installation project. Using AHM-32 as a system processor. Need help connecting unit to AHM system manager.

    Firmware Version: V1.4.2
    AHM System Manager Versions: (2) instances: V1.5.1 + V1.4.2
    OS: MacBook Pro Sonoma 14.4.1
    Network interface: OWC USB-C to gigabit Ethernet

    Problem: AHM System Manager recognizes AHM-32 in the System>Connect window but when connection is attempted, request times out. Can’t update the firmware. Stuck on dialogue box for about 15 minutes until error message pops up.

    Troubleshooting steps I’ve taken:

    Manual IP Configuration: Ensured IP address was in the same subnet range as the AHM-32
    Opened up I/O slot on AHM-32 to access dipswitch #6 (the network reset switch for the unit), power cycled the unit with dip switch engaged, and then power cycled again with dipswitch returned to off position.
    Tried all of this with a different computer (Mac Mini, same OS, same AHM System Manager Software)

    Seems that the only way to configure network settings on this unit is either to reset the network via the dipswitch, or already be logged into System Manager (which I can’t do). I’m lost on what to do next. Any advice?

    Was the computer also connected to WiFi while you where trying to connect over ethernet? If so, try turning WiFi off when attempting this connection. You might have been creating a network loop (which is bad).

    Have you tried a non-Apple device?

    @Brian

    That seemed to be exactly the issue, thanks!

    I was also able to resolve the issue by following the recommendations of Mark at A&H Product Support Engineering. He recommended reprioritizing the service order in network settings.

    You can change the priority order for networks – go to Settings -> Networks -> at the bottom of the page is a “… >” button – click that -> Set service order -> Drag them so that the ethernet connection is at the top.

    Everything worked seamlessly after that.
