    Okay.. so the SQ can have 12 stereo mixes for things like in ear monitors. What stage box configuration makes this possible? Can you link 3 Dx168s together?

    Thanks!

    Hello Kirt,

    Using a DX Hub allows you to connect 3 x DX168

    Thanks,

    Can someone explain the difference in functionality between pluging directly from s-link port of an SQ to a giga-ace port of a dlive rack and using an additional giga-ace card on the dlive rack pluging from s-link of an SQ to giga-ace port A or B of the card as shown in the paper linked above … ?

    Do the card giga-ace ports understand s-link but the generic rack giga-ace port doesn’t?
    I thought that the main function of the card is ‘giga-ace split’? If giga-ace card is not the same as giga-ace rack why can’t you give ‘understand s-link functionality’ to the racks main giga-ace port?

    Okay cool. Thanks for the info. Okay….so for a follow up question:
    So let’s say I have the DX hub card installed in the FOH SQ-6. I’ve got two Cat5 lines run to the stage supporting three DX168s. What then is the procedure for routing the DX168’s to a 2nd Sq console?

    Thanks!

    Hi guma,

    The SLink port supports the GigaACE protocol, but we do not support connecting directly to the main GigaACE port on a dLive system.
    So the SLink port ‘understands’ 128×128 GigaACE (as on the option cards).
    Although the main GigaACE port and GigaACE option cards on a dLive use the same protocol, they are actually quite different ports, and the main GigaACE is designed only to be used for connecting to a dLive surface.

    Thanks,

    Keith.

    Hi Kbshearer,

    The DX-Hub is a standalone (or rackmount) unit that is designed to be used at the stage end. It allows a single connection from FoH to stage, and then you can connect up to two DX-168s to each DX port (so eight maximum). We will also soon be supporting the DX-32 and DX-164w with SQ.
    (You may find this document useful too: https://www.allen-heath.com/media/DX-System-Guide-ISS_1.pdf)

    The DX units expand whichever desk they are connected to, so you can then share them the same as you would any other input on the desk, patching channel direct outs to local analogue or digital outputs.

    Thanks,

    Keith.

    Thank you! That is very helpful.

    Thank you Keith, i anticipated that. Should be different cause a dlive rack is a mix engine in the dlive world but a digital stage box in the SQ world so the card GigaACE port is solely the preamp/converter path and the main GigaACE port is that path + the mix rack mixing remote path … in my humble interpretation …

    Hi Keith,

    ”  DX Link 1-4 Four DX Link sockets each capable of 32×32 channels of
    96kHz audio. Each DX Link socket can be connected to 1 DX32 or up to 2
    DX168/DX16-4W expanders”

    Can we connect the hub to DX1 or 2 of dlive surface & connect up to 4 x DX32?
    or must it be connected to GigaAce card?

    Hi Simon,

    The DX Hub has 4x DX ports to connect to expanders and 1x GigaACE port to connect to the mixer (via GigaACE).

    DX = 32×32 @ 96Khz
    GigaACE = 128×128 @ 96kHz
    (4 x 32 = 128 🙂 )

    The 4x DX ports are similar to those on a dLive MixRack, in that they are for connection to expanders only, not to a mixer.

    Hopefully that helps!

    Cheers,
    Keith.
