Multi track recording in a two GLD-80 setup.
Where the monitor desk would be running the recording.
Which i/o card and how to connect both desks?
If using Dante do I need a dante card in both desks?
    what are the options?
can I alternatively do analogue direct outs (least desirable obviously)?

I have not done this, but here is my best guess:

Yes, Dante for both desks. For monitor desk, one Dante out to laptop or desktop with Dante virtual sound card software installed for recording, the Dante out goes to FOH desk. Monitor desk controls gain, FOH should switch to trim for FOH gain control.
    Should work fine.

    Have fun!

I use MMO card ADAT outs to JoeCo recorder, but I have only one GLD, run monitors from FOH or use ME-1’s for either in-ear or wedges. Only drawback using ME-1’s for wedges is lack of GEQ and RTA on desk.
