After working with the new GLD on a comedy show with live band, I find that the meter sensitivity and overall gain structure is great for rocknroll. But for softer sources in far-away microphones (like covering a stage with PZMs), the LED bars in the fader strips are not sensitive enough (sometimes, you won’t even get “signal present” even though what’s coming through is already quite relevant for the acoustic impression). So for theatre and “classical” use, it would be nice to have screen meters with a lower threshold and higher resolution. -60dbFS would be nice, -70dBFS even better.
