    HI ,

    Can any one help in understanding midi option on allen heath idr , can we trigger tracks or loops from cubase recording software ,

    Yes you could if you know what you are doing – but why? The iLive midi commands are sent from either fader moves, mutes, pans etc and so won’t make a very convenient controller to trigger loops etc. Use a midi controller keyboard it will be much easier to set up and use. The MMC midi commands that can also be sent from the iLive touchscreen can be used for sequencer transport or could be converted to do other midi tasks but these commands coming out of the iLive are fixed so would need to be converted with external software or within your sequencer.

    The IDR midi ports also have a fixed midi protocol so you would also most likely need to convert these messages to use in cubase. The IDR midi spec is available in the A&H iLive downloads page. Editor midi is much easier to work with as it can be programmed or “learn” midi commands to send/ receive.
