    Hello peoples!

Has anyone actually managed to get Tweak to connect correctly to an iDR over the net?

I can get mine to recognise the iDR, but it bugs out.

You do mean over the internet, not over WiFi?! :-)

oh, you mean from different subnet…
Gotta check this out, will let you know tomorrow- I believe if NAT and port forwarding is properly set it should work.

I’m trying to imagine the scenario you have where this would be required? What are you trying to do with it?

    iDR32 mixrack
MixRack for iPad & Tweak for iPhone apps
    Asus N61 Laptop (x2 wireless)
    Sennheiser IEM (for PFL)
    Dante card (soon!)

I would want to administer a static iLive installation in a bar remotely. I have been able to get Tweak to interrogate an iDR remotely, but it won’t get any further than the login screen. The only way to do this, as far as I can see, is to use a local editor and use ShareScreen or similar.

    Cheers!

Do you have some way to monitor the results? Sounds scary – adjusting a system without local ‘ears’!
I’d agree though, you may be better using some sort of Remote desktop protocol). That way you have control over all the system functionality too (might come in handy when some twit repatches something and you need to do a quick I/O adjustment or switch L/R around!).

Yes, it sounds scary, and Tweak wouldn’t be my ideal controller. The scenario is that a sax player in a bar rings me up and says, ‘I need a bit more, as I’m playing alto instead of tenor’. Oh, and I’d have to trust the muso! :-) I would prefer to use the Editor, and therefore be able to see levels, but I doubt any current broadband system is going to have enough stable bandwidth.

Do you need high bandwidth to run an rdp? If you can tap into a local PC running editor, even if the metering isn’t bang on realtime you’d still have to be better off – you wouldn’t be running editor over broadband in that scenario, just the rdp – all the heavy lifting happens on site, you just have remote viewing and control. PS that still sounds too scary for me!
