    Hi
We are using madicards in all our mixracks. when we like to use a second mixrack, we have to swap the madicards on one rack to port A.

why there is no possibility to use an Port B Port B setup for Dual Mixrack Setup ?
I know that there was an older firmware version (1.6 ??) where the setup was Port B/B.

    cheers frank

I assume it is to allow dual rack to be used in conjunction with one of the option cards. Speaking selfishly that was a change that suited me.
    Happy New Year all.

    Hi Toneheads

We made this change from PortB – PortB to PortB – PortA so that you still have an available Port B expanstion slot on the slave mixrack.
This is more of an advantage for customers using T-Series Mixrack (iDR16, 32, 48 & 64) as they have a fixed Port A architecture.

    Hope this helps

    Unfortunately this isn’t very helpful.
we have two fixed racks and one idr10, and possibly we will buy the next ilive 144 very soon. All with madi cards in port b. the setup for splits is connecting port b with port b, for dualrack its port a/b. so the customers who likes to use madi and have a fixed racks are loosed, because this doesn’t work dor dual rack.
whats about a software preference for this setup. in firmware 1.6 it was possible to use port b/b for dualrack, so this must be a matter of software code.
at this moment the customers who pay more because they use idr 10 racks, are the customers with more anger in configure the system to different cases. its hard to explain to a tec use this setup for split, or swap the cards if you like to use dualrack. its a lot of screwing and configuring!!!
    cheers

    Hi Frank

The new DualRack topology increases the functionality of the desk by keeping Port B of the slave rack free for system expansion. This was not possible in 1.6 as PortA is designed primarily as a Mixrack to surface Link.

You are an advanced iLive user, though iLive has a wide market for professional and novice users so we have tried to keep it simple for everyone to understand. A&H decided against the software option to try and simplify the system.

You are still able to carry out the DualRack setup by moving your card configuration so that was considered as the valid option your hardware setup.

I am sorry this is not the best solution for your configuration and hardware setup.
