So i’ve ordered my iLive T112 system and need to sort out a few bits so i can get the system on the road asap.

I need to know what spec of cat5e cable i need to buy, if someone could advise

Will this on be be suitable?

Also anyone (UK) had a case made for this surface yet?

Will probably go for a standard 2 piece case unless i can get a 3 piece made for a reasonable price.

    Cheers

    Graham,

I ordered a cable from pinnason in spain. they have a new cable with 2CAT5+1audio+1power. price is verry reasonable. Ref 5057. It is so new that it is not yet in the catalog. so you have a spare CAT5 , 1 pair for talkback or intercom and power 3*1,5mm² in one cable.

Graham the CAT5 E-F is very flexible my only concern would be how rugged is it. I have used it for ages as patch cables works a treat, however I think you should look at a more deployable version such at Neutrik Etherflex lots of people sell it, I get my stock from CLD https://www.cld-dist.co.uk/
Other options I looked at were Beldon https://www.canford.co.uk/Browse/22787.aspx
These are not screened, which whilst not an issue I just felt I should have a screened cable, not just for electrical reasons I always think it is a bit more rugged.

Last one was a Battlefield deployable one sold by Bryant Broadcast

Trouble with this was I could not find a plug it would go into and I could not bend it but boy it was tough for sure.

The Hybrid version mentioned in previous post sounds interesting but I feel it is just as easy to put out a power cable of suitable size for the sittuation, same as a comms cable.

A&H has tested the iLive-T 120m spec with Neutrik Etherflex with shielded EtherCon connectors, and Belden Catsnake 1305A, again with EtherCon connectors, so we’d recommend either of these cables.

You could also use any CAT5 listed on EtherSound’s website, but, with the exception of the two cables mentioned above, they will only give you the distance stated by Ethersound.

Do you have a contact web address for pinnason spain? That cable sounds just what I’m after and I can’t find any info online. Cheers Stix

Just gone Fibre Optic (self build) works great now up to 550 metres on Neutrik Opticalcon connectors and cable. Not as cheap as Etherflex cable but very neat.

Thanks for the link Lieven. I have also found an interesting multi cable here:
    https://www.linkusa-inc.com/Products/tabid/80/CategoryID/1/List/1/Level/a/ProductID/8064/Language/en-US/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductNumber%2cUnitCost

This cable has 2 x CAT5, 2 x Audio pair, and mains power. The signal possibilities down this could be the iLive ACE digital, Intercom, DMX, Video etc or redundant CAT5 (or both CAT5’s used if you have the big Daddy iLive desk)
