• Q. When is gear designed to break?

    A. The day after the warranty expires.

That’s the motto of automotive design school.

  • There’s no way to break them apart into what would be 6 mono mixes. You can use them as mono just connect to either the left or right output and be sure the mix sends are all panned to the center.
You can still do the 6 mixed you need as it is.
If you need more mixes remember you can convert the groups into mixes, I have had to do that a couple of time.

  • For a simulated HPF I think a parametric EQ low shelf would be
closer. Still not a true HPF with continuing per octave cut off.

  • Some of the analog Bose processors have a three or four position selector switch
on the back to put it in the correct operating mode for your speakers (with subs, without subs, ect.) and you have to connect your amps to the correct outputs. I know if it’s done wrong you can have full range signal feeding the sub, not what you want.

    As for what…[Read more]

Do your have a Bose system processor in the system and properly setup and connected?

The EQ curve you added may have made it sound better than before in comparison to what ever before sounded like but that does not sound like a proper EQ curve for the system.

  • Depending on what your system actually is it may not be able to even what is truly considered a flat response in an actual room (few speakers can actually make it out to 16,000 before falling off a cliff or truly make it down to 30hz) regardless your not really going to like the sound of flat or close to it anyway. Depending on the speakers and…[Read more]

  • Setting up a Qu Pac at an install and it would be great if it could
boot up directly to the Q control screen.

I almost want to say I did this at one point but can’t remember how, or I never
    really did it!

  • Just to ask, on your iPad your are using the mix, group, Fx selection
buttons on the left hand side of the screen.

As has been mentioned say you call up mix 1 on the iPad you have full control
of mix 1 but unless the board also has mix one selected you will not see
    the board doing anything.

  • Maybe an IP address issue. You say it only connects when the mixers DHCP is turned off, what is the static address enter into the mixer. How is the router configured, IP address, DHCP assignment range.

  • Funny how the brain or mine at least edits out what it wants to when reading something!!

I still have two systems worth of effects and insert racks that have hardly seen any use in the past couple years. There loaded with nice stuff, BSS, Drawmer, TC Electronic, Lexicon and lone ARX six gate! All last year they just kept getting pushed further…[Read more]

  • Your solution #2 as pictured would do it.
To be honest even though I was looking right at your question I kinda
glazed over the part about an external FX unit.

What FX unit are using and what does it do the internal FX can not.
Just recently I did need/could have used a pitch shift special FX for a speaking line in
a play (think Darth Vader) and…[Read more]

  • If you get a stage box like a AB168 in the IO set up you can route any input to any channel or channels on the mixer surface.

Yea that would be an expensive Y cable but the stage box could be handy in it self.

  • In the IO set up menu route the USB recording to come from a matrix mix with that matrix mix being fed from
left right pre output. That way you can control the the recording level via the matrix mix level control as well
as being able to insert compression and eq on the recording if needed.

That’s my default set up for making a board mix recording.

  • The multitrack channels are direct channel output recordings. Generally effects are returned into the stereo mix so that’s why the stereo mix tracks recorded on 17 & 18 have your effects return recorded.

During the multitrack mixdown session is where you would re-apply effects, it may be better as effects used and mixed for a live show may not…[Read more]

Depending on the stage, band and type of event I will actually put all of my stage wedge monitor mixes on a DCA. In between songs when someone in the band is talking to the audience pulling the monitor levels down a little helps clean up the over all sound, It also is a big help when someone else gets up on the stage to speak who is already scared…[Read more]

  • Sorry about the false info on QU16’s having matrix mixes, For reference I normally use a QU-Pac or a QU-32.

The stereo mix outs can not be split apart to mono, however if your using a stereo mix
and everything is panned to the center the stereo mix outs could be thought of a dual mono out with on side feeding one recording and the other side…[Read more]

  • You would have to use the ALT Outs, go to the set up menu IO selection screen, surface menu and from there you can select the source that feeds the ALT out, LR pre is one of the selections, if needed you can also select the source for the AES out.

Maybe building a recording feed mix in the matrix mixer section would work for you as well, then the…[Read more]
